Current Event #9

Video released early Monday by New Orleans police shows a possible suspect in the Mother's Day gunfire that wounded 19 people during a neighborhood parade.The  surveillance video shows a crowd suddenly scattering in all directions, with some falling to the ground. They appear to be running from a man who turns and runs out of the picture. The person is wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. The image isn't clear but police say they hope someone will recognize him and notify investigators.

This event left 19 people wounded.Police believe more than one gun was fired in the burst of Sunday afternoon violence – the latest to flare up around a celebration this year – and they have vowed to swiftly track down those responsible. Detectives were conducting interviews, collecting any surveillance video they could find and gathering evidence from the scene. 

This is a very scary thing. It also happened on mothers day making it even more scary and sad. Its scary to think that these things could happen anywhere and to anyine. A lot of big event are happening with guns and bombs and its sad. I think there should be more gun control to stop this trauma.

Monday, news broke out that after a decade, three kidnapped women had been found.Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry, and Michelle Knight where found Downtown Clevland. Amanda Beryy called 911 and asked for assistance immidiatly. They were being held hostage by three brothers.Three suspects are under arrest -- former school-bus driver Ariel Castro, 52, and his brothers Pedro, 54, and O'Neal, 50, Cleveland police said.

This is a really scary thing to happen. It affects the community because a lot of women get kidnapped and some never are found. Our community needs ti take more precautions and make it a safer place for women AND children. Its scary to think that this could happen to anyone.

I am glad that they are okay. It a miracle that the women sticked together and made it through and survived it. Not many people can do that.Its stories like this that make me more aware of how lucky i am and that my parents and teachers rules are for my won benefit and safety.

These pictures are of three different statues on the Kenny campus.

Current Event #7

New York officials to seek human remains at 9/11 plane part site. A part of the plane that was used during the 9/11 terrorist attack was found in an 18-inch ally between two buildings. The officials aren't sure which plane the pieces are from but know its from them because of a partial flag piece left near it. The plan part is about 5 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 17 inches deep. The plane parts will remain there until they government figures out what to do with it. 

The families of the victims from 9/11 were outraged with the discovery. They were saying that the proper search after 9/11 never happened and that the remains should have been found many years ago. This is a big discovery because remains of the planes that crashed into to the Twin towers have never been found. This is a new piece of history .

9/11 was a very devastating time in my lifetime. Al though i was still young, it was hard to hear that New york had a terriost attack Even to this day, we hear all kinds of stories and this event is still told today. Every year on 9/11, we celebrates the lives that were taken during the attack. Its very sad and scary to think things like this can happen. Precaution have defiantly been taken since this.

This week, mr. Timothy Yocum has kept his classroom 65 degrees. It is around 85 degrees outside. It currently feels like 36 degrees in here. His current student Maddy Kelly says "I am freezing. I can feel my leg hairs growing from my goosebumps. This is not okay!" It's a devastating room to be in.

This is impacting the community (aka his students) because it makes the environment very uncomfortable to be in. We live in Florida. Not Antartica. Therefore, people want to live in the heat. (Do not take this literal.) With using so much air, it is harmful to our environment. It waste so much energy and money for our lovely WARM school.

This is affecting me. And my grade. It is impossible to concentrate on my fabulous works of art. Scientifical evidence have shown that people who live in warm states concentrate better in their natural environment. When I go to this classroom, I want it to feel like I'm In Florida, not the North Pole. Therefore, I think he should turn the air up, for the good of humanity. Or else I will protest.

Monday, April 15 there was two bombs that went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. A total of two people died and many were injured. The FBI has no leads yet and are continuing the investigation as a terrorist attack. According to a government official, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev came to the United States in 2002 with his father and his mother on a regular visa and then applied for refugee status. Tamerlan Tsarnaev came to the United States during the next year or so.

It's significant because there have been many threats on 'Merica. It bring a lot of awarness and it really opens the governments eyes. I really hope they catch the people responsabe for this bevursufibdslfoufxjjbn rb regdgv fysdf yusduy dsfydgfud dvduyfvysdf sdhassdd cdsyfssfe/

This is very sad. A marathon is one of the comforting environemts i hvae been too. theres alot of supporting people that just want t run and feel good about themselves. It sad that something like this can happen.

This Girl, Audrie Pott, hosted an unsupervised underage drinking party. SHe got really drunk and passed out. This is when three fellow classmates took advantage of her. They took photos of her and themselves and posted them online. The photos also were sent via txt message. She posted a face book status saying "The photos have gotten out. My life is ruined. " She took her own life that night. The school finally figured out the three guys that were involve and are now facing sexual charges.

This tory really gets to me because not only is it incredibly horrible that someone did this, but its sad that someone actually would. It also shows how dangerous drinking and partying can be. I would HATE to see someone go through something like this and i hope justice is served.

Unfortuatly society these days do include teenage drinking and partying. Its scary to think how dangerous this could be. I really hope people read ther story and realize how incrediably sad and scary it i and learn the lesson.

Angela and Willie Gillis has been best friends for 10 years, and married for 3. Together they made a healthy goal to lose a combined 500 pounds. In january 2011, Willie weighed 492 pounds and Angela weighed 338 pounds. The day of their wedding, they woke up and came together to make a goal of loosing it.

This affects the society because in my personal opinion, the obesity average has gone up. I see a lot of over weight people and it scares me how unhealthy they are.

I think this story is very inspirational because they worked hard to achieve their goal. I don't think many people realize how unhealthy obesity and being over weight is. It amazes me that they knew they had to change their ways and they succeed. I am so proud of them. It makes me want to give them a hug even though I don't know them. :)

Current Event #1

On March 13,2013,Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires was announced as Pope Francis. Pope Francis is the first hispanic pope and currently only has one lng. After days of voting and time in the Vatican, the decision was finally made. 

Im excited to see how Pope Francis takes on his role as pope and to see the changes. In our religion class, we asked our teacher who she thought would become pope and this was her number one choice. It was exciting to be alive and to be able to watch history in the making. Although it was shame to see Pope Benedict step down, We all hope the very best for him.

Nickholas Duda, a fifth grader, was announced a hero after calling 911. His babysitter, Corinne Keeler, was walking across a cross walk when she felt ill. She ran to the bathroom and started throwing up. Nick was making sure she was okay when he notice red liquid, blood. He quickly called 911 and rescue was sent ASAP.

I really do not like how this "news" is "big news" there are more important things then a babysitter throwing up blood. Yes, he did save her life, so it is inspirational. Most kids wouldn't know what to have done at the time of need. He new what to do and saved her life!

Pope Benedict XVI announced that he will resign on February 19, 2013. Many rumors have said that the pope was blackmailed, corruption, and gay sex in the Vatican. Other rumors figured that he was sick or that his old age played a role in it. It has been centuries since a pope stepped dwn. The last one was Pope Gregory XII.

This effects the people of the church and lots of Catholics. No one was expecting this from him and many curiosity questions romed the country.
